The Federal Department of Fisheries and Oceans, upholds a no net loss policy in its mandate to protect fisheries habitat under the Fisheries Act.

Prairie Province Water Board

To ensure water resources are shared fairly, the Provinces of Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba and the Government of Canada created the Prairie Province Water Board in 1948. In 1969, the four governments changed how the Prairie Provinces Water Board operated by signing the Master Agreement on Apportionment (MAA).

Water and Environmental Hub (WEHUB)

The Water and Environmental HUB project (WEHUB) is a made-in-Alberta data platform that builds on existing provincial, federal and other government, academia and industry investments, technologies and partnerships.

The goal of the WEHUB is to facilitate transparency and sharing of water and environmental data, to enable greater levels of confidence and trust in the data, and to elevate the quality of debate and decision support around sustainable environmental and resource management.
